Tutor: Louise Peat
6 Tues Evenings & 1 Sat, €265
13 Aug - 17 Sept & 21 Sept
Tues 6:30 - 9:30pm & Sat 10am - 5pm

The above courses are all at the same beginners level and will cover water-based silkscreen printing. You will learn a method that is known as the photo emulsion technique: how to produce screenprints from any black-and-white photographic or hand drawn imagery - created by using various opaque materials which produce different effects - on a transparent overlay such as acetate, tracing paper, or oiled paper, which is then exposed over the emulsion-coated screen with a light source containing ultraviolet light. Colour layering and registration will also be covered.

Screen Printing - Intermediate (5 places)
Tutor: Raymond Henshaw
Weekend Workshop, €190
4 & 5 May
Sat & Sun 10am - 5pm

The BCPS Intermediate Screen Printing Class explores the next steps in screen printing building on the basic methods mastered in Beginners Class. The intermediate class provides an intensive period of time for participants to develop their own design work through producing screen prints from hand drawn/painted imagery using stencilling techniques on true-grain (vinyl transparency). Colour layering will be explored through exposing multiple layers of an image on the screen and also through combining this with the stencilling techniques. Multiple designs can be exposed on the screen, layering contrasting imagery in a way that works well as a final print design. This course is an opportunity for more experienced participants to expand their existing skills. This Intermediate course is suitable for anyone who has completed a beginners' course in screenprinting or its equivalent.
